Curriculum and Assessment review response
22 November 2024

Humanities 20:20 has responded to the Curriculum and Assessment  Review chaired by Professor Becky Francis. The response is based on the principles set out in the Humanities 20:20 manifesto and emphasizes the importance of the humanities as an essential part of a balanced and broadly-based curriculum in Key Stages 1 and 2. In welcoming the Review's emphasis on greater flexibility and professional autonomy, the response highlights that formal assessment and inspection leads to a narrowing of the curriculum as taught. Therefore these need to be reformed as well revising the written curriculum to reduce the amount of content and provide a greater emphasis on the humanities and the arts. The full response can be requested from tony@edperspectives.org.uk and will be uploaded on this page shortly.
